I liked killing biters, but I didn’t like not getting a reward from it. The biters will just destroy your machines and you lose your progress towards whatever larger goal you were working towards (I think the saying is “the factory must grow”). In Factorio, if you aren’t successful in defending your base, you don’t lose the game. If you aren’t successful, you lose the game - but that is the game. In every other TD game, you are defending your tower to…continue defending your tower. What it has over every other tower defense game is that it is so much more than a tower defense game. Honestly, they all sound like things you’d see in an advertisement for a mobile game that has none of those features. And I get it, some people think biters are annoying - they want to build a factory…īut even someone who doesn’t like the tower defense aspect can appreciate the strategy involved in the free form tower placement on a randomly generated map (no lanes of enemies), the ability to use your environment defensively, the power creep as you build more/better towers and can make more/better ammo, etc…if you took all that and made a separate game, you would have one of the better games in the TD genre. Like I mentioned the tower defense concepts are outstanding. No, it is a f king phenomenal logistics game - for the part focused on logistics. Those people were right about DSP being a good logistics game…īut they were wrong about Factorio - it’s not a good logistics game. The game is beautiful and the concept leads to gameplay that looks/feels epic, but the gameplay loop…eh…(at least for now - it is in early access). Everyone agreed Factorio was deeper/more complex, but the general consensus was they were both good logistics games, so I didn’t think I was missing out.ĭSP is a game in which you mine resources and build a factory to produce items to build a Dyson Sphere to power the expansion of your factory to produce items to build a Dyson Sphere to power the expansion of your factory to produce items…you get it. I played Dyson Sphere Program and constantly saw comparisons to Factorio. Oh and the whole logistics and supply chain management aspect of the game is great too. ![]() Look both ways before you cross the tracks.īut it is - with better TD mechanics than any TD game I’ve played. The only significance is life, which leads to the further wisdom. Every assembler is but a visitor to where it resides. Let your anxiety wash away as you perceive that every belt placed can be moved. Most games punish you for building, demolishing and rebuilding. Your mistakes have no cost but time, and the deconstruction planner even reduces that cost.
